I
am Thales Exoo [thay-leez x-o], a left-brained developer with right-brained sensibilities and an astute sense of humor.
I live and work in
Chicago, Illinois. I have over eight years of
web development experience, doing both freelance work and working as a full-time employee.
I've done work for an inordinate number of Canadian clients, including a non-profit youth organization and a maternity fashion label,
as well as a Chicago-based office & school supply company and a Washington, D.C. radio show. I've also worked full-time for the Tribune
Company and currently spend my days working as a software engineer in the music industry at a Chicago-based digital service.
I'm a technically-minded person with a unique ability among tech people; I can communicate with real people. A lifetime ago I was a
liberal arts English major, and language and writing is still my passion, which allows me to create readable documentation and user
training materials, and thoroughly discuss and outline what you, as a prospective client, need to have created. I'll help you understand
the process, and I'll be able understand what you want. When it comes to understanding the web design process - I get it.
I even write a weekly Q&A/advice
column over at Chicagoist called Ask
Chicagoist which showcases not only my writing, but also my crazy mad research skills - I
can find the answer to anything, be it about the history of a Chicago skyscraper or the best technology to use to develop your project.
I'm a fast and efficient worker who knows how to get the job done. I pride myself in keeping on top of the latest technologies and
discerning between those that are truly innovative and those that are just the hip flavor-of-the-week. I'm super-organized and can
translate that obsession into creating clear requirements, intelligent information architectures, clean interfaces and reusable and readable
code. I know how to plan, develop, and implement during all stages of the project.
Take a look at my resume [pdf] and contact me soon so we can
talk about how I can help you out with your web development needs.
"Life does not consist mainly, or even largely, of facts and happenings.
It consists mainly of the storm of thought that is forever flowing through one's head."

"You can't depend on your judgment when your imagination is out of focus."

"If a poet is anybody, he is somebody to whom things made matter very little-somebody who is
obsessed by Making. Like all obsessions, the Making obsession has disadvantages;for instance,my
only interest in making money would be to make it. Fortunately, however,I should prefer to make
almost anything else, including locomotives and roses. It is with roses and locomotives(not to mention
acrobats Spring electricity Coney Island the 4th of July the eyes of mice and Niagara Falls)that my
"poems" are competing.
They are also competing with each other, with elephants, and with El Greco.
Ineluctable preoccupation with The Verb gives a poet one priceless advantage:whereas nonmakers
must content themselves with the merely undeniable fact that two times two is four,he rejoices in a
purely irresistable truth..."
